What. The. Hell.

So today I was sitting at home, waiting for the guy from the AC repair place to come out and fix our air conditioning. You might ask why I was having our air conditioning fixed when it's been in the low 50s in the mornings and mid 70s in the afternoon, but really, it's fix it now when I can pretend to have money, or fix it when it gets hot again and we have the second child and can't even pretend we have any spare cash. Regardless, the guy shows up, fixes the AC, then comes up for his payment. I whip out the credit card it was going on and he looks at me and says cash or check only. I stare at him a moment and ask him, "What?" He again repeats, "Cash or check only."

I proceed to explain that we have a problem then, as I had absolutely NO clue that they didn't take credit, and that I in no way shape or form had any clue that they didn't take credit. To the guys credit he didn't get pissed off, he realized that he had never mentioned it, nor had his dispatcher mentioned it to me. So the guy was kind and said, to sign the work order and I'd owe him. Thank God for people like that. Also thank God for my lovely wife who was able to see a way we could pay them in full in a timely manner, but still. Why would you be in a business, where you tend to charge large amounts, especially considering they do installs for new AC systems, which are not even remotely cheap, and NOT take credit cards. It just sort of boggles my mind. Ahh well, it's taken care of, they'll get their money, the credit card company will make it's interest, and when it gets hot as hell again, we'll get to stay cool.

Way it goes some times I suppose.

Weekend and a quiz

This weekend was pretty cool, my mom was in town for an American Cancer Society thing and I got to hang out with her Saturday night and Sunday afternoon before she flew back out, so that kicked much ass :) Corwin had a great time seeing her, heck he had a pretty good weekend all around. Got to spend the night with Jenn's parents on Friday night, then got to hang out with my mom and go on a horse drawn carriage ride with her through the West End. Then he got to hang out with her at the mall on Sunday. So that was really pretty cool. All in all a good, if tiring, weekend. and now for some quiz fun, it caught my eye and I had to check it out.

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.
